Before you write

The teacher can’t hear me

Check that The Third Student is allowed to use the microphone and speech recognition, in your iPhone’s Settings under Privacy & Security, then Microphone, and Privacy & Security, then Speech Recognition. In a noisy room, headphones with a microphone help a lot.

I can’t speak right now

Press Type instead at the bottom of the class screen and type your answers. Everything else stays the same.

The teacher is silent

During the beta, most of the teacher’s lines need an internet connection. If you’re online and she still isn’t speaking, write to us and tell us which language you’re learning.

I want to stop for today

Stop whenever you like. Your place is kept on your phone, and the next class picks up where you left off.
